We strongly urge you to ensure that you never braai with the wood of any endangered species of tree, or any indigenous tree for that matter. Burning alien vegetation like Bluegum and Black Wattle is encouraged. These trees drain water from our African soil, and it’s our duty to the children of our children to burn as much of it as possible during braais.
Braaing is a direct form of energy use. From the coals, directly to your meat (or vegetables). There is no spillage and waste of precious energy as is the case during the many kilometers that conventional electricity travels.
Remember that your fire creates smoke. Be considerate to your neighbors who are not braaing and make sure that they can join in the fun by smelling your braai.
